Christmas 2007

star 1Joy to the World, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Mele Kalikimaka and Aloha!

The Weather Outside is Frightful…

6 December 2007 · 2 Comments

The last couple of days have seen a lot of heavy rain and high winds. Lots of trees have been uprooted, some roofs have blown off, and electricity is out in a few areas all over the state.

Thankfully, we are fine. Our electricity never went out and the only thing the winds did was blow our trash can over, spilling the contents and distributing it all over our drive way.

However, I feel for the visitors who fled the mainland in the hopes of finding balmy sunny Hawaiian days. Still, it could be worse. We could be living in Minnesota :)

In Your Facebook

4 December 2007 · Leave a Comment

There has been a lot of fussing over Facebook’s new feature called Beacon. It seems Beacon tracks where you go and what you do on the Internet and then reports that back to all of the people who have subscribed to your Facebook news feed.

The fact that you might not want everyone to know what DVD you just rented or what clothes you just bought or magazines you read or what sites you visit is, apparently, immaterial to Facebook. All your life are owned by them. At least, as long you continue to use Facebook.

That’s what I’m talking about today. Although on-line petitions are fine and all, they usually don’t have much of an effect because, IT’S JUST TALK. If you want to get the attention of Facebook, leave. Yes, Facebook recently provided a little more control. But as it stands now, if you want to be the one who determines what level of privacy you want, leave.

As for me, I’ve deactivated my account and have walked away. And if Facebook does not provide an opt-out option on Beacon, I will never return.

Aloha!

How Sweet It Is!

3 December 2007 · Leave a Comment

The University of Hawaii Warriors football team ended its regular season with a perfect 12 wins and no losses this past Saturday night. Yesterday, the 10th-rated team in the nation was then invited to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans to play against Georgia on January 1st. The entire state of Hawaii is so proud of the team and what it has accomplished. Hawaii is the only unbeaten team in the United States and is much deserving of this bowl game. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff. Go Warriors!

Aloha!
