Well, MacWorld is done and, once again, Apple has saved me money. How? Because I was looking to get a cheaper, faster Mac mini and a new iPhone. Neither of which appeared at MacWorld.
I understand that some are saying Apple is leaving MacWorld because it would rather set its own timetable for releasing products. That, in fact, Apple had to rush things to meet an external deadline. Perhaps. If so, there is also the side effect that its customers will no longer know, or at least guess, when they will be able to upgrade/buy Apple’s latest and greatest.
Yes, Apple could release a road-map so that its customers could plan their purchasing cycles to coincide with the release of new products. But, we are talking about Apple here and the likelihood that Apple will begin a dialogue with its customers ranks somewhat below the IQ of certain pop singers.
Still, I can now get the flat panel HDTV that I’ve been eyeing since before Christmas, rather than the Mac mini and iPhone.
Aloha!

Of course you need an Apple TV to drive that new flat HDTV. And an Apple AirPort to feed films into it. And an Apple TimeCapsule to backup everything. And …
